Explanation Regarding Employees Caring for Two or More Children and Applying for Childcare Leave of Less Than 30 Days.
1. Article 2, Paragraph 3 of the Implementation Measures for Childcare Leave of Less Than 6 Months stipulates: "The period of childcare leave of less than 6 months shall, in principle, be no less than 6 months each time.
However, if the employee needs less than 6 months, the period and number of applications for childcare leave of less than 6 months are as follows:
I. 30 days or more but less than 6 months: limited to 2 times.
II. Less than 30 days: each application shall be in days, but the total shall be limited to 30 days."
2.The Ministry of Labor has issued a letter stating that the new system allowing employees to apply for flexible parental leave on a "day" basis is intended to enable employees caring for children to meet their urgent short-term care needs. Considering that the timing of urgent short-term care needs varies for different children, and to align with the policy objectives, employees simultaneously caring for two or more children may apply for parental leave of "less than 30 days" in accordance with Article 2, Paragraph 3, Item 2 of the Implementation Measures for Parental Leave. The number of days
applied for should be calculated separately for each child.
